Florence Ho, ASW
Welcome! My name is Florence and my goal is to be a witness alongside your journey, providing a safe space for you to explore anything you would like to bring into our therapy space.
I am an LGBT+ affirming psychotherapist and I offer sessions in English and Cantonese.
Counseling Philosophy
Feelings of stuckness or heaviness are often explained through the microcosm of family, relational, or interpersonal dynamics. Though extremely helpful, a sole microcosmic lens may not feel sufficient to capture and explore the depth of what you may be feeling, particularly in relation to systemic and societal wounds. Inspired by the deep healing I have experienced within my own therapy, as well as drawing from my transformative and liberatory experiences within Gender/Ethnic/Performance Studies, I aim to bridge interpersonal and individual perspectives with systemic impacts to explore what our shifting bodies and minds may experience in both a micro and macro sense.
I enjoy working with members of the LGBT+, queer, non-monogamous, and disabled communities.
Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approaches draw mainly from psychodynamic therapy, culturally sensitive practices, and critical postcolonial, disability, feminist, and queer theories.
Centering ideas of deep relational and spiritual healing, my approach is to be a witness alongside your journey, providing a safe space for you to explore anything you feel comfortable bringing into our therapy space. Therapeutic modalities are effective insofar as there is a relational connection between client and clinician, and my focus is to nurture our relational space to allow for transformative healing.

Education and Experience
I received my Master's in Social Welfare from UCLA, with an additional Graduate Concentration Certificate in Gender Studies. I also hold a Bachelor's in Critical Gender Studies and Psychology from UCSD. I am registered as an Associate Social Worker in the state of California (ASW#133210) and practice under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Robbins (Psy#22646). Before entering private practice, I served in the non-profit sector as a therapist and case manager, and also served as a medical social worker for patients living with Cerebral Palsy. I also have experience teaching undergraduate courses spanning across Disability Studies, Food Studies, and Arts Education; and most recently, hold an adjunct faculty position lecturing for Social Justice Studies. What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.
